Paging all YOGA lovers..need info

[info]tankgirlh is into yoga....mmm..who else???!!!!!

Ok..I've NEVER done yoga before so..obviously my limbs and muscles are stiff (funny though..when sex comes..my limbs are the exact opposite!LOL!!).

I'm...no..I THINK I am ok emotionally..I'm still healing I guess and it sucks. This is why I don't fancy yoga-because it's quiet. At the moment I need loud music and all to sing along and stuff.

A list was given to me,describing all types of yoga and its purposes.

Thing is...I've attended 2 bodycombat classes and although it nearly killed me...right after the class,I come out of the studio with a big smile on my face and I get all super-friendly with the people there!! AND THIS IS NORA you're talking about here ok! The reserved, shy, moody Cancerian! Again...although the class nearly killed me...I had fun.

Now...it's time for me to try new things.new approaches to...well...new stuff. I was watching people doing yoga and it looked fun but... aaarrggggghhhhhh!!! The silence!!! But at the SAME time...while watching and observing the class...it looked so relaxing.

Now....which yoga you think I should try out? Here's the list:

- sun salutation

- hatha yoga

- hatha vinyasa

- gentle yoga

- ashtanga yoga

- power yoga

- yoga therapy

Or should I just try all and see which suits me best?

Hmmmmmm.......

someone was talking to me about this to me a couple days ago.

she was trained in and taught ashtanga vinyasa yoga. The term "vinyasa" means that the moves flow smoothly right after another, almost like a dance.

Ashtanga/ sun salutations/ power yoga (call it what you like) is the only exercise that combines resistance, cardio, and flexibility in one. It's typically practiced six days a week (rest day being Saturday), but beginners can start out with about three days and work their way up.

A book the person I was talking to recommended to me is called Total Yoga by Tara Frazier (I think that's how you spoell it).

You might also want to check out yoga.about.com

I hope this helps.

Have fun!

I really enjoy Kundalini Yoga. it's mostly for women only and is more of a lifestyle than just stretching. it's really changed my life for the better.

I'm not "into" yoga...I'm somewhat-unwillingly going to classes, heh. I take Bikram Yoga, which is done in a hot room, and don't know anything about the other kinds!!

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out!
